I can design and manage the production of custom nonplanar ring oscillators (NPROs). This includes modeling performance, designing optical production tooling, managing the fabrication of the tooling, managing the procurement and coating of parts, and testing.

When pumped by semiconductor lasers, lasers based on NPROs produce single-frequency light of extreme frequency stability.

Lasers based on NPROs are used primarily at two wavelengths - 1064 nm and 1319 nm. They are a near-ideal source for interferometers used at the ultimate limit of performance. The detection of gravitational waves is done using light from NPROs operating at 1064 nm. Extremely sensitive sonar systems use NPROs operating at 1319 nm.
