Tom Kane, Ph.D., working as Kane OE, is an independent optical engineer.
I have 4 active capabilities:
•I am carrying out self-funded development of lasers optimized for eye-safe LIDAR, using the semiconductor-pumped Nd:YVO4 / V:YAG and Nd:YAG / V:YAG laser systems. These systems provide pulses with rise time below 1 nanosecond and peak power greater than 20 kilowatts, or in another configuration, pulse repetition rate greater than 1 MHz. • I provide custom-designed NPROs for commercial and government customers. This work has led to a big improvement in fast frequency tuning of NPROs. Read about it here.
• I design and deliver custom optical systems for R&D and early product development.
• I have a lab capable of fully characterizing moderate power pulsed and cw lasers.
